JJ Costantino has coached high school varsity baseball since 2009. He grew up in Southern California, where he played at AB Miller High School, in Fontana CA. In 2007 JJ was named High School Player of the Year. He continued his baseball career at Chaffey College, in Rancho Cucamonga CA. Obtained honors of 1st Team All Conference, in both seasons. He then went on to play for Lee University in Tennessee. Named NAIA 1st Team All American honors. After college, JJ played Independent Baseball, for the White Sands Pupfish in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Shortly after, JJ jumped right into coaching young minds, and joined the Etiwanda High School Baseball Staff, in Rancho Cucamonga CA. During his tenure at Etiwanda, JJ reached the State Championship in Division 2, in just their first season. Then winning a state championship in 2017. Dozens of players he has coached, have reached the collegiate/professional level. JJ says the best part of coaching is building relationships with the players and teaching young student athletes how to play the game the right way. His energy and enthusiasm brings the absolute best out of the players everyday.
Coach Hall attended Monroe High School (CA) where he was drafted at the age of 17 by the AZ Diamondbacks. He played 10 seasons professionally with the Diamondbacks, Astros, Mets, Yankees, and Phillies. He then went on to coach at the college and professional level. He also built a travel ball program over the past 10 years. His favorite part of coaching is developing struggling players and turning them into solid players.
Coach Nyswaner was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. He attended South Fayette High School (PA) and was an outfielder/pitcher. He went on to be a pitcher at Bethany College (WV) where he holds both the individual season and career pitching appearances records. He has been coaching high school baseball for over ten years working primarily with the pitching staff. He was a part of a state championship run while being a coach at St. Thomas Aquinas High School (Ft. Lauderdale, FL). “I have lived and coached in 4 different states and been exposed to highly competitive high school baseball.” He is thankful to Coach JJ for the opportunity to join the staff and work with the pitchers. Coach Adam says that he enjoys the teaching aspect of the game the most. “If a pitcher learns something new or tweaks their mechanics to make them better on the mound, then I have done my job.”
Coach Mansfield moved to Mesa in 2004 after 39 years on the Monterey Peninsula. He attended Monterey High School where he played football and baseball. He has coached Community College and High School baseball for over 20 years and has ran several club teams. He also managed in the 1993 Bronco League World Series. Coach Mansfield has worked on the grounds crew for the Diamondbacks and San Fransico Giants. He appreciates Coach JJ for letting him share his knowledge and love for the game with this great program.
Coach Hanes attended and played baseball at Central Kitsap High School in Silverdale, Washington. He went on to play college baseball at Olympic College in Bremerton, Washington. He has been coaching baseball for six years, four of which were at the high school level. Coach Haynes enjoys teaching and helping young baseball players develop their talents on the field.
Coach Tils was born in Queens, NY and raised on Long Island, NY. He moved to Gilbert, AZ in 1992. He played baseball and graduated from Highland HS in 1996. Coach Tils has been coaching baseball for 20 years. He is appreciative for the opportunity to be back at Highland coaching and looks forward to sharing his knowledge and passion for the game with the student athletes here at HHS. His favorite part of coaching is watching his players succeed on and off the field.
Coach Swayze's journey in baseball began in his hometown of Gilbert, AZ at Highland HS where he honed his skills and developed a love for the game that would shape his life's trajectory. Now, returning to his roots at Highland HS, he is eager to give back to the community that helped mold him into the player and person he is today. Coach Swayze is excited to be able to instill the values he learned growing up playing baseball from some of his role models he had the opportunity to work with over the years. He's grateful to the program and coach JJ for allowing him the opportunity to share these experiences with the players.
